Hey pals!!
When I went from corporate to a more creative/entrepreneurial work life, one of the most important things I did was define my core values.
Values can be defined as “Individual beliefs that motivate people to act one way or another. They serve as a guide for human behavior.”
In a workbook created by Jillian Tureki she says, “A good rule of thumb is, when you live your life congruently with your values, you will feel a greater sense of fulfilment.”
In the Clarity Coaching work I do with clients, values are a key area of discussion. We pick out words together and discuss why these words are important to you, what they mean to you, and how they show up in your life. It’s crazy the “a ha” moments and clarity that comes from actually looking at these things and speaking about them and seeing them on paper.
Defining my values has helped my work life, personal life and my relationships. Whether it’s doing this for your brand or business, or for yourself and your personal life, clarifying your core values is the beginning of clarity and a sense of fulfilment and direction!
Here are some questions to help you define your core values:
How do you spend your time?
How do you spend your energy?
How do you spend your money?
What principles guide your decision-making process?
When do you feel most fulfilled and authentic?
What qualities do you admire most in others?
What do you visualize and realize?
Based on these answers, identify themes and trends. These will make up the foundation of your core values.
Thanks for tuning in!
