Things change and we are adaptable humans, so I’m hoping you come on this ride with me where I take Bits + Pieces into a new space.
I’m stripping things back and starting with me. Basically, it means I’ll be writing more brain dumps. You can expect content that sparks curiosity, self-reflection, and bits that relate to my work, so brand/marketing/social thoughts.
Today I identify as a brand marketing consultant but I’m also the youngest child, an advocate of getting your nails done to connect with humans, peanut butter obsessed, loyal friend, a former makeup artist, explorer, movement and exercise enthusiast, and a human who’s learning and growing.
With that said… let’s talk about people!
If we speak of people as we speak of brands, building a strong foundation as a brand is the beginning of showing up authenticity in the world. The saying “it starts with you” rings true for lots of things. When I work with brands and businesses, they often come to me because they’re feeling unmotivated and uninspired, they’ve started a business and don’t know how to market themselves and show up online, sales are slowing down and they’re not growing as they expected, or they want a social media strategy…the list goes on.
But more often than not, we never start here. Without a strong foundation and confident understanding of who you are and why you’re doing what you’re doing, it’s very difficult to connect with your audience, show up online and off, and live out your purpose.
Asking questions like - what are your values? What is your purpose? What was the spark for starting your business? and how do you want to be remembered? make up the foundation of a business. When we know these things, we can then structure comms, partnerships, and marketing etc to communicate this, connect with audiences, and serve humans in the world. Otherwise, what’s the point? Things like posting for posting's sake because that’s what you should do, or engaging in a sale period because everyone else is feels detached and lacks purpose and intent.
It’s work that businesses find difficult to do alone. But this same logic can be applied to humans. To show up as our true selves, we all need support and we all need community and help to navigate things that we experience in life. This will look different for each person, but it’s the same type of work. Through curiosity and the uncovering of oneself, we may meet ourselves at a different, new place. Somewhere that feels more raw, organic, and real.
I believe that an open mind, leading with open awareness, getting quiet, and embodying who we are (humans that are all connected and filled with love), will uncover lots of things that could help in many ways. And with a strong foundation and commitment to being awake, maybe we can learn some new things and have new experiences.
For those who’ve seen me recently, I’ve been chatting with some pals about a book called The Values Factor by Dr John Demartini. I’ve found this to be an eye-opener for me, check it out if it resonates.
That’s all for now.
Thanks for being here, and grateful to have you along for the ride!
