“I’ve found my purpose and I’m so excited”. I met Kay K on zoom in her wetsuit post surf, and this was her opening line.
Australian-born, Kay K now lives on the island of Siargao in the Philippines. We met years ago while I was traveling South America. Kay K had long hair, super tanned skin, and most notably a huge tattoo sleeve that got my attention. She’s always had a light, bright, playful energy to her.
Back in 2019, the original plan was to move to Siargao, buy land and build a surf hostel. These days after two years on the island, building her community and re-building it after Typhoon Odette, she’s solidified her place on the island, not just because of its magical essence, but also because of the community.
“Untamed is a space that’s fun and allows me to be super creative and authentic”
Along with two co-founders, she’s recently launched Untamed, an offering of ecstatic dance, healing modalities, and retreats, intended to bring you back to truth, to the untamed, fullest embodiment of you. Her offering of ecstatic dance in a sacred space is her gift to people - “Untamed is something that I can put all my energy into as this is my purpose. Creating something that has meaning and intention behind it while helping people get out of their heads and into their bodies. It’s a space that’s fun and allows me to be super creative and authentic”.
I’ve been pondering purpose and passion of late. In Ryan Holiday’s “Ego is the Enemy” he notes “While passion is the emotion and motivation, purpose is the reason for doing. Purpose is passion with boundaries”.
In the pursuit of finding one’s purpose, it’s a journey of self-discovery, exploration, and curiosity.
To find your purpose, one must get deep to uncover what’s lying below
The closer we get to our purpose, the more aligned, connected, and liberated we feel.
Self-discovery is work. I like to think of it as a journey of healing and growing. To find your purpose, one must get deep to uncover what’s lying below.
For those keen to explore, here are some questions to ask yourself and journal on:
What makes you come alive?
What are your innate strengths?
Where do you add the greatest value?
How will you measure your life?
Grateful to have you here.
