Hello Spring!
Coming out of the deep dark winter I thought it might be nice to shed light on how we can revive our manes and get us feeling fresh again.
Let’s start with haircuts! Honestly, there is nothing more like freshness than a blunt chop. Recently for bob lengths or longer, I have been keeping clients’ ends quite chunky and adding secret layers inside the haircut to lighten it up and add movement. Best of both worlds!
And if you have been thinking about adding bangs, then now's the time to go for it. We’ve still got a few months before it’s sweaty out there so you have time to learn how to style them and settle into your new look. Have a mist water spray bottle at home to help you restyle after you have slept on it. And use those little clips to help hold your bangs in place while air drying, then add dry shampoo if needed once dry. My absolute favourite dry shampoo is Bumble and Bumble’s Pret a Powder. I tap some powder into my fingers and then massage it into the hair and roots.
If you’ve been spending a lot of time indoors near radiators your hair might be feeling particularly parched and static. This happens when there is less moisture in the air. You can help this by using a leave-in cream from mid-lengths to ends when wet after washing and then applying some more cream when it’s dry.
For Fine to Medium hair, I love Oribe’s Feather Balm which can be used on both wet and dry hair. The Ouai’s Leave-in Conditioner is great on wet hair. I spray it into my hands and then scrunch it into either air dry, or blow dry my hair. Aveda’s Texurizing Cream is my go-to on set and I use that on dry hair when I want to polish the hair without weighing it down. For curly and textured hair I love Oribe’s Priming Lotion Leave-in Conditioning Detangler. Layer this through wet hair and define your curls section by section and either air or diffuse dry.
If you have any specific questions or hair topics you’d like to know more about, leave a comment in the post so I can see!
