Hey friends,
I recently joined The Stack World, a women’s community supporting entrepreneurs on their journey. What started as a way to connect with an online community, has turned into real-life relationships and meetings with incredible like-minded women, learning about all things from web3 and business success-planning, to content strategy and makeup (of course).
This experience has further solidified the role of community in my life, and how important both online and offline communities are for wellbeing and happiness.
Soon I’ll be introducing guest contributors to Bits + Pieces, to hero and champion the wonderful and talented people in my life that I feel we can all learn a thing or two from. From skin therapists to hairstylists, chefs and journalists, I’m excited to see where this next phase of the newsletter takes us.
But for now, here are some things to skim….
Grateful to have you.
Linen changes lives
Don’t wait until you’re 30 for an excuse to invest in linen sheets. I’m not joking when I say my bed is the gift that keeps on giving. For English folks, I got mine from Bedfolk and I can assure you it’s worth the £.
Do good
I met the creator of GOODBEADS recently who designs beads to make you smile. All profits go to PANDAS, supporting parents affected by perinatal mental illness. They’re colourful and fun and I just love them and their mission.
Smooth eyes
I got a new eye cream the other week. Yes yes yes Drunk Elephant you’ve done it again. C-Tango™ Multivitamin Eye Cream, is smooth and creamy and fab. After being a solid Kiehl’s Avocado Eye Cream fan for years, this is a welcome change.
Cold dips
Maybe you’ve heard of Wim Hoff or you’ve read about ice baths, either way, if not for the various health benefits, cold water is a fast way to activate your endorphins for a natural high that I promise is addictive and feels epic. Whether it’s a cold shower or an outdoor pool - this is your sign to try something new and give it a go. What’s to lose!
Ask the audience
I asked Instagram for makeup and skincare questions and received a bunch of responses. We’ll work through them - so this week let’s chat about blackheads. I’ll keep it short and sweet:
Blackheads are caused by clogged pores, more prone in oily skin types
I’m sure you already know this but don’t try and extract them with two fingers, it’s not good for your skin
To get rid of blackheads use products with salicylic acid which increase cell turnover and unclogs pores
Add a retinoid to your routine - they promote skin turnover and both treat the skin condition and prevent new blackheads from forming*
*Note: this is general advice, it’s always recommended to consult your skin therapist or professional in order to choose the specific product best suited to your skin type
